Skate Sculpture were initially contracted by the Shire of Beverley to provide a comprehensive community engagement strategy, site selection, cost estimation, documentary and master plan concept design for the Beverley Youth Precinct including the layout and integration of landscape amenities, pump track, basketball court and play elements.
The project commenced in 2018 with Skate Sculpture collaborating with the Beverley Working Group to assess several potential sites for the future facility. Three sites were shortlisted and sent out for community vote. As two sites both gained an even number of public votes, Skate Sculpture provided a final site recommendation based on access, site constraints and the potential to create a high profile public open space integral to the existing community.
Four public events were then held to determine the attractions within the design which included a skatepark, pump track, basketball court, nature play with BBQ’s, grassed hang out areas and three shelters.
Skate Sculpture’s concept design, consultation report and Beverley Youth Space documentary was then used as support material to gain the required funding for the design and construction of the youth park.
Partnering with Emerge Associates (Landscape Architecture), Phase Three (Construction) and Common Ground (Pump Track), Skate Sculpture were awarded the detailed design and construction of the skatepark which was completed in September 2020 to rave reviews.
